An experienced audit executive, Brenda Roberts has an MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University. She is also a California Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Fraud Examiner with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and a Certified Internal Auditor with the Institute of Internal Auditors.

In addition to her years of public service at various levels of government, Brenda Roberts has worked in senior-management positions with Fortune 500 companies, including Safeway and Core-Mark International.

In November 2014, Brenda Roberts was elected by majority vote to serve as the City Auditor for the City of Oakland. During her four-year term, she identified over $4 million in revenue-recapture and cost-savings through audits and investigations of City operations. Roberts also introduced new state-of-the-art audit tools and implemented citywide fraud-awareness training. Her prior work history includes management positions with Deloitte, the City and County of San Francisco, and the Office of Inspector General. She has been acknowledged for her outstanding audit reporting and was twice awarded the Knighton Award, sponsored by the Association of Local Government Auditors.
